What is LEED® Certification?
LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system for green building developed by the US Green Building Council. LEED® is a national standard, a “benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.” LEED® for Homes encourages owners, architects and builders to look at the whole building process, with a focus on five key areas:
Each LEED® project starts out by being “registered” after which it can qualify to achieve a certain number of points and a certain level of LEED® certification (Silver, Gold or Platinum). All homes in the Kelsey Brook neighborhood will be certified to one of these levels.
